Market landscape
Foreign investors may own businesses outright in every sector except petroleum, where participation runs through agreements with Staatsolie. Companies must be registered with the Suriname Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKF).[1]
The Suriname Investment and Trade Agency (SITA) supports international investment and Surinamese exports. It promotes agribusiness, business services, energy and mining, tourism, forestry, and food and drink.[2]
For larger projects, the government has tended to negotiate investment terms case by case with the investor.[1]
The 2025 MOFCOM guide reported commercial rents in Paramaribo of about US$10–15 per m² per month and central land prices of €100–250 per m². Treat these as indicative only.[1]
Where demand comes from
Oil-related activity is increasing demand for offices, warehousing, yards and housing for expatriate and project staff around Paramaribo and the coastal districts.
The quality of the counterparty and the cleanliness of title matter more than headline yields. We help investors get to the right questions quickly; licensed notaries, lawyers and valuers answer them.
How we help
- Source and screen investment opportunities against your criteria.
- Identify counterparties and run commercial background research.
- Connect you with licensed notaries, lawyers, surveyors and tax advisers — we do not provide those services ourselves.
- Coordinate site visits and meetings with SITA and other institutions.
Suriname Partners provides commercial facilitation and market intelligence. We do not provide legal, tax, engineering, property-title, investment or procurement-decision advice; where those are needed we help you engage licensed professionals.
