DP World announced the first pole of its shore-base expansion on 24 August 2022: a 50-hectare offshore supply base on the former Suzannasdaal plantation near the estuary in Commewijne, with a 500-metre quay and 8.5 metres of guaranteed depth, about 200 km from offshore drilling sites. The first phase was targeted for completion by the end of the second quarter of 2023.
